Creating Events
Learn how to create and publish successful events on Delvent.
Prerequisites
Before creating an event, you need a Host Profile:
Setting Up Your Host Profile

- Sign in to Delvent
- Go to Dashboard → Settings
- Click Create Host Profile
- Fill in your profile information:
- Logo - Upload your organisation logo (optional)
- Organization Name - Your organisation or brand name
- Bio - Description of your organisation
- Add links (optional):
- Website - Your organisation's website URL
- Social Media - Instagram, LinkedIn, and X handles
Creating Your First Event
The event creation flow has four steps: Event Details, Ticketing, Payment (if you have paid tickets), and Registration.
Step 1: Event Details

- Go to Dashboard → Events
- Click Create Event
- Select your Host Profile and set visibility (Public/Private)
Event Title & URL
- Event Title - Choose a clear, descriptive name
- Event URL - Auto-generated from your title, but you can customize it (e.g.,
delvent.io/events/your-event-name)
Description
Write a compelling description that includes:
- What the event is about
- Who should attend
- What attendees will learn or experience
- Any special guests or highlights
The description field supports formatting including headings, lists, links, and more.
Event Type & Format
- Event Type:
- Single Day - One-time event on a specific date
- Multi-Day - Event spanning multiple consecutive days
- Recurring - Ongoing events with a regular schedule (museums, tours, attractions). See Recurring Events for details.
- Format: In-Person, Virtual, or Hybrid
- Category: Tech, Music, Art, Business, Sports, Food, Education, Networking, Entertainment, or Other
Date & Time
- Single Day: Set start and end date/time
- Multi-Day: Add multiple dates with individual start/end times
Location
For In-Person/Hybrid Events:
- Country - Select from the dropdown
- Location Address - Start typing and select from autocomplete suggestions
- Location Visibility - Toggle whether the address is publicly visible
For Virtual/Hybrid Events:
- Online Meeting Link - Your Zoom, Google Meet, or other platform URL
Additional Settings
- Instructions (optional) - Add notes shown after registration (venue directions, parking, what to bring)
- Require Access Code - Toggle to require a code before attendees can register
Banner & Theme
On the right side of the form:
- Banner Image - Click to upload (JPG, PNG, or WebP, max 5MB)
- Theme - Choose Default, Dark, or Festive
Step 2: Ticketing
Create one or more ticket types:
- Ticket Name - e.g., "General Admission", "VIP"
- Ticket Type - Free or Paid
- Currency & Price (for paid tickets) - NGN, USD, or GBP
- Description - What's included with this ticket
Additional options:
- Multi-day access - For multi-day events, choose which days each ticket grants access to
- Maximum per order - Limit how many tickets one person can buy
- Group Ticket - Enable bulk registration for groups
- Limited quantity - Set a cap on available tickets
- Transfer fee - Pass processing fees to the attendee
Step 3: Payment (Paid Events Only)
If you have paid tickets, you'll need a settlement method configured. This step shows your connected payment methods:
- Paystack - For NGN payments
- Stripe - For USD/GBP payments
- Crypto Wallet - For USDC payments
Configure payment methods in Dashboard → Settings → Settlement before creating paid events.
Step 4: Registration
Configure what information to collect from attendees:
Default fields (always collected):
- Name
Custom fields - Add additional questions:
- Short Text
- Long Text
- Phone
- Yes/No
- Dropdown
- Multiple Choice
- Checkbox
You can mark fields as required and use certain field types as eligibility checks to block registration based on answers.
Publishing Your Event
After completing all steps, click Publish Event to make your event live.
Once published:
- Event becomes visible (if public)
- Tickets go on sale
- Event page is live at
delvent.io/events/[your-event-url]
You need at least one ticket to publish your event.
Editing Published Events
You can edit most details after publishing:
Always Editable
- Description
- Banner image
- Instructions
- Theme
Limited After Ticket Sales
- Ticket prices (can't reduce below sold price)
- Date changes (may require attendee notification)
Cannot Change
- Event type (single vs multi-day)
- Currency (after first sale)
Event Actions
Duplicate Event
Create a copy of your event:
- Go to Event Settings
- Click Duplicate Event
- Modify details for the new event
- Save and publish
Great for recurring events.
Cancel Event
If you need to cancel:
- Go to Event Settings
- Click Cancel Event
- Provide a cancellation reason
- Confirm cancellation
Cancelling an event notifies all registered attendees.
Delete Event
Only available for unpublished (draft) events:
- Go to Event Settings
- Click Delete Event
- Confirm deletion
Event Status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not published, only visible to you |
| Published | Live and accepting registrations |
| Upcoming | Published event in the future |
| Live | Event is currently happening |
| Past | Event has ended |
| Cancelled | Event was cancelled |
